The Chantels

The Chantels were the second African-American girl group to have nationwide success in the United States, preceded by The Bobbettes. The group was established in the early 1950s and attended St. Anthony of Padua school in The Bronx. The original five members consisted of Arlene Smith (lead), Sonia Goring, Rene Minus, Jackie Landry Jackson and Lois Harris.

Blues Magoos

The Blues Magoos are a rock music group from the The Bronx. They were at the forefront of the psychedelic music trend, beginning as early as 1966.

Robert & Johnny


Robert & Johnny (Robert Carr and Johnny Mitchell) were an American doo-wop duo from The Bronx. They had two singles that charted in 1958; "We Belong Together", which hit #12 on the U.S. Black Singles chart and #32 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "I Believe In You", which hit #93 on the Hot 100.
