The Marcels

The Marcels were an American doo-wop group known for turning popular music songs into rock and roll. The group formed in 1959 with lead Cornelius Harp, bass Fred Johnson, Gene Bricker, Ron Mundy, and Richard Knauss. The group was named by Fred Johnson's younger sister Priscilla, after a popular hair style of the day, the marcel wave.

Samuel Cook, better known under the stage name Sam Cooke, was an American gospel, R&B, soul, and pop singer, songwriter and entrepreneur. He is considered to be one of the pioneers and founders of soul music.

Ike Turner

Ike Wister Turner was an American musician, bandleader, songwriter, arranger, talent scout and record producer. In a career that lasted more than half a century, his repertoire included blues, soul, rock, and funk. He is most popularly known for his 1960s work with his then wife Tina Turner in the Ike & Tina Turner revue.
